| Editorial Reviews:
From Amazon.com Sure they look pretty and sound pretty and all, but is this Montreal-based quartet ever going to amount to much, you know in the course of "rock history"? Very likely, if their captivating third album, ISet Yourself on Fire/I, is any indication. Vocalists Amy Millan and Torquil Campbell have never harmonized better together, and the whole keyboard-heavy band is at that delectable place where they transcend their influences. Great pop music is not about "originality" (nor has it ever much been); it's a passionate marriage of idea and conviction. Sure, you can still hear the mark of Beulah, the Smiths, New Order, Broken Social Scene and Super Furry Animals in their songs. But the group has never been as confident with their marriage of lush, exuberant dreampop and dark, clever lyrics as they are here. I--Mike McGonigal/I

Simple and Sweet, yet it Shines! September 3, 2006 JJ (Peterborough, Canada) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This Stars album just captivated me from the very first time the melodies started emanating from my speakers. It just sucked me in and wrapped around me like a warm fuzzy blanket. And I'm not joking, it was almost magical. I could feel the rhythms take hold right away and send me on an awe-inspiring journey. It's all pop perfection, but unique and challenging enough to separate itself from the rest of the mainstream drivel and mediocrity out there today. The opening track sets the mood, and it definitely doesn't stop there. Almost every song is upbeat and dreamy, ringing out youthful wonder and optimism. Especially with songs like Ageless Beauty, Amy's vocals and the instrumentation hearken back the era of Lush, a band that sadly ended way before its time. But then later she provides a delicate performance in songs like The Big Fight and One More Night. She sometimes sounds like a 'quiet' sister of Emily from Metric! Then of course, Torquil adds a very resonating DCFC feel to the entourage. A total package that is just enthralling... br / br /Kudos to a great effort!!! br /
4 stars for the stars April 22, 2006 Holly (Vancouver) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I can't stop playing this cd. The best track is One More Night (Your ex-lover remains dead). Also really really good: Your ex-lover is dead, sleep tonight, celebration guns and calender girl. It loses a star only because I don't love the whole cd, theres a couple I skip through, but on the whole a great cd.

One opinion January 25, 2006 Sandy (Italy) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I am always very skeptical of new music. This whole album blew me away. It was quite refreshing to have so many subjects and styles in one album. The Stars cover so much ground, I don#x27;t see how they haven#x27;t broken into the mainstream (somewhere) yet. But this only adds to the ease of feeling a personal connection with their music, I think. Very pleased.
