| Customer Reviews: Fabulous Fairholme Cookbook March 23, 2010 Britt (Victoria, BC) This is a beautiful cookbook with so many excellent recipes! It was recommended to me from a friend who has stayed at Fairholme Manor Bed & Breakfast numerous times and always has amazing things to say about her experiences there.
The book itself is put together very nicely with easy-to-read recipes and large photos of both the meals and the manor itself. I leave it on my coffee table because the photography is so amazing!
My favourite recipes are the Fairholme Eggs Benedict and the Egg Blossoms. What I love about the Eggs Benedict is that they give a lot of variations, which is like having several recipes in one! The Egg Blossoms are such a unique idea and surprisingly easy to make. The Tomato and Spinach Strata Served with Asiago has also been a big hit at my house.
I would not hesitate to recommend this book to anyone! By far one of the best cook books I have ever purchased (and I have purchased A LOT)!
Useful layout; practical recipes; people enjoy the dishes July 23, 2009 M. Braithwaite (Canada) We use this book frequently. The recipes are laid out very well one per page--large and easy to read and follow. The recipes are practical and fairly easy--everyone likes the food. We find it a bit inconvenient trying to locate specific recipes from the table of contents, even when we are familiar with the recipe--something to improve if there is a next edition. Concerning the recipes, we find many of the batters tend to be light on egg, so we adjust. There are other minor points, such as, the no-fail "Hollandaise" for the eggs benedict is really just a warm mayonnaise. But for groggy Sunday mornings, opting for simpler and more reliable is not a bad thing. All in all a very good book. We bought a second copy so we would not have to ferry one copy back and forth between home and the cottage.
Simple yet elegant February 7, 2009 Donna K. (Powell River, B.C.) My family and I spent last weekend at Sylvia Main's B&B in Victoria and had a wonderful stay. After having two of her delicious breakfasts, I knew I had to have a copy of her cookbook and thought it would make a great souvenir of our trip. The recipes are delicious and yet not difficult to prepare. The cookbook itself is of very good quality with heavy, glossy pages and has beautiful photography. I would recommend this cookbook although I wish I had of purchased it from Amazon and saved myself almost $12! (I must say too, that Sylvia is even prettier in person than on the cover of her book!)
