Love it when you find an exceptional first time author! June 12, 2007 T. Jorgensen (Calgary, Alberta Canada) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Okay - WOW! I too read the review in People Magazine and sought out this novel by Jennifer McMahon. The book rocks! I do not usually enjoy reading in the "1st person" - but the concept of the book, the characters and the full-on creepiness that oozes from the pages kept me reading til early morn. I could not put it down - you feel so badly for Del "The Potato Girl" and equally bad for Opal - so many sinister happenings go on that it keeps the short chapters snapping with energy and keeps you guessing til the very end. The only thing upsetting to me is that I have to wait a year before Ms. McMahon captivates us again with what will hopefully be yet another superb read!

I read this book in 2 days.. with a full time job and 2 small children. I could not put it down! The characters are all so interesting and the story is exciting, scary and truly touching. The mystery kept me guessing til the big reveal. After I finished the book I flipped back through the pages, looking for clues. I didnt want the story to end! Jennifer McMahon-Please write a sequel!! br /If you have ever prejudged, picked on someone else, or been the subject of someone elses cruel jokes... this book is for you.
I PROMISE THIS WILL KEEP YOU UP ALL NIGHT! May 12, 2007 Annie 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
What a great read! I bought it on a whim after reading the review in People, and I literally could not put it down. I was scared, intrigued and fascinated. The childhood scenes where Del (the Potato Girl) is tormented and finally betrayed by her only friend were so painful but so right on. I believed in all the characters, and miss them now that the book is over! The mystery was satisfying, the supernatural parts genuinely creepy. Basically, you have to read this book! Don't miss it!
